Qui suis-je?... À Rome et Venise

Ce projet débute durant Entr’ARTS-2013, séminaire multidisciplinaire d’artistes francophones organisé par le RAFA (Regroupement des artistes francophones de l’Alberta) au Banff Centre, Banff, Alberta. Ce projet a lieu en 2013 à Banff et Niagara, puis se poursuit à Rome et Venise durant l’été 2014. Il porte sur l'identité et le temps et questionne l’image de soi qui peut être rapidement et facilement transformée.

Dans l’espace public, j’adopte une approche plus ou moins théâtrale et ludique. Je tiens un plastique transparent et grossissant devant mon visage, le bouge, montrant aux passants un visage plus ou moins grotesque, amusant, et qui attire l’attention. Dans un espace-temps donné, je m’amuse en réinventant l’image de soi et en dérangeant brièvement le cours des choses. Dans notre monde où l’adaptation rapide à de nouvelles situations est requise, je questionne le rapport que nous avons avec autrui et envers notre notion d’identité changeante due à l’informatique. Mon activité dans la sphère publique souligne notre changement identitaire.

In Rome and Venice – Who am I?...

This project, Qui suis-je? started during Entr’ARTS-2013, a multidisciplinary event for francophone artists organised by RAFA (francophones de l’Alberta) at the Banff Centre, Banff, Alberta, in summer 2013 and continued in Rome and Venice in summer 2014. This project is about identity, questioning our self-image which can be rapidly and easily transformed.

In performing this piece, I adopt a certain theatrical and playful approach. I hold a transparent plastic magnifying sheet in front of my face, and move it to attract the attention of passers-by, showing them a face more or less grotesque, amusing, as I play at inventing a self-image and for the moment, disturbing the course of things. In our modern world where one must adapt quickly to new situations, this is a way to question our relations with others and our changing notion of identity in the electronic world. By taking an active presence in the public sphere, I underline identity transformation.
