Nuit blanche -  Résilience/Resilience

Le festival international artistique, Nuit blanche, fut lancé à Paris en 2001 et a maintenant lieu dans cinq villes canadiennes: Montréal, Toronto, Calgary, Halifax, Winnipeg et Saskatoon. Depuis son lancement à Saskatoon en 2015, ce festival prend place dans des lieux physiques différents, déterminés par le groupe organisateur local. Qu’il fasse froid ou moins froid, les gens se présentent en soirée, se baladent, se laissent volontiers dépayser, regardent et s’arrêtent, s’amusent tout en étant parfois impliqués.   

Éveline Boudreau, artiste en performance, participe cette année à Nuit blanche grâce à l’oeuvre Résilience/Resilience. Elle s’intéresse aux liens entre le corps et l’esprit, l’ici et le maintenant, le dualisme entre le `je` et le `nous`, le tout étant lié à l’expérience Internet.

Sorti du confort de la demeure pour aller parmi un public accueillant, voilà un personnage mobile et accueillant. Coiffé du globe terrestre, il offre un hommage au World Wide Web et à nos communications via Internet; il épouse <<l'art du déplacement !>> Vêtu pour le temps qu’il fait, il porte une veste chaude de couleur céleste et des culottes noires avec codes binaires blancs; ses bottines rouges et ses bas jaunes sont vivifiants. Ainsi, ce personnage est imbu de contrastes propres à la terre et à Internet : robustesse et fragilité, long temps géologique et moments électroniques brefs, marque d’hier et d’aujourd’hui, etc… Ce personnage terrestre désire obtenir des gens présents égards et attentions, offrant en retour de l’enchantement.

En cette Nuit blanche, une telle intervention en espace public contribue à la rencontre et au `bon temps`! Et la performance fait son chemin, porteuse de messages et d’agréments.

Nuit blanche is an international artistic festival launched in Paris in 2001. It now happens in five Canadian cities: Montréal, Toronto, Calgary, Halifax, Winnipeg and Saskatoon. Initiated in Saskatoon in 2015 by local organizers, it goes on regardless of cold weather in different locations each year. People venture forth to immerse themselves in art as they walk about, to look, stop, be entertained and sometimes be involved.

Éveline Boudreau, performance artist, participates in this year’s Nuit blanche with her mobile art performance called Résilience/Resilience. In it she focusses on the connections between body and spirit, the here and now, the dualism of “me and us”, all linked to the Internet experience.

Leaving the comfort of home to be part of a festive public, she is a mobile personage, accessible to the world. She goes out as a mobile terrestrial globe in homage to the World Wide Web, the Internet and social media. She is prepared for cool weather in ocean and sky blue, black pants with binary codes, invigorating yellow socks and red boots. As such, the artist portrays contrasts relating to the earth and the Internet: robustness vs. fragility, geological time vs. electronic instantaneity, yesterday vs. today…into infinity...  This “earth persona” reaches out to communicate with, and to enchant, people who have come out for Nuit blanche.

Nuit blanche facilitates artistic intervention in the public milieu which leads to encounters and “bon temps”! Performance art finds its way, carrying messages and conviviality.
