Remembering December 6th 1989

On December 6th, 1989, Marc Lépine entered École Polytechnique, an engineering school affiliated with the Université de Montréal and killed fourteen women (twelve engineering students, one nursing student and one employee of the Université) and injured fourteen other people, including four men.

Suicide letter
Marc Lépine’s inside jacket pocket contained a suicide letter and two letters to friends, all dated the day of the massacre. The text of the original letter in French is available, along with an English translation.

On Tuesday afternoon, December 2nd 2014, Justice Minister Peter MacKay told the House of Commons that "we may never understand ... why these women were singled out for this horrific act of violence."
